Our journey has taken us across QLD's and NSW's many beautiful regions, building strong venue relationships through professionalism, quality sound, and audience connection. The AJ Trio is a Brisbane-based covers band known for delivering high-energy, crowd-pleasing performances across Queensland and beyond. With Aaron on guitar and vocals, Shannon on bass, and Tyler on drums, we pride ourselves on reading the room and adapting our setlists to create the perfect vibe for any event.
- Our Story
The AJ Trio began from humble roots. Originally formed as the Aaron James Duo in 2015, it all started when our father, Gregory, saw Aaron’s growing passion for guitar and singing. The duo performed for a few years until 2018, when Greg needed a bassist for his band. Frustrated with finding one for an upcoming gig, he mentioned it at home. Shannon overheard and casually offered to fill in—with just seven days to learn the sets. That one gig turned into something bigger, and the three of us continued to grow as a band, guided by our father’s decades of experience in the Brisbane music scene and all the wonderful connection he established over the years.
By mid-2022, Greg’s health began to decline, and we faced the difficult decision of finding a new drummer. A family friend recommended Greg’s mate’s son, Tyler. Though hesitant at first, one rehearsal with Tyler proved he was the right fit. He brought fresh energy and talent, allowing us to continue performing and evolving.
In August 2023, we lost our father. It was a heartbreaking moment, but his influence and love for music continue to inspire us. With Tyler on board, we pushed forward, growing as musicians and great mates along the way.

From Mt Isa to Airlie Beach and down to Twin Towns in NSW, we’ve played countless venues, earning a reputation for reliability, top-quality sound, and performances that keep audiences engaged. We’ve built lasting relationships with venues and booking agencies across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast.
Whether it’s an intimate venue, corporate event, or large festival, we bring the same energy and professionalism every time. Our extensive repertoire allows us to tailor every performance to suit the moment, ensuring an unforgettable live music experience.
